Dancing Backwards

Yes, I just the other day received an email from Thomas Lavelle.

For those of you who do not remember he was the author of the original novel by the name of
Dancing Backwards. He has now completed a three book series by the same name.

Several months ago we had  very good discussion related to another book. It is my hope that a few of you will read the series and advice me on whether this might be a good book for us to talk about on the blog.

The criteria I use.

Must be about femdom.
It must make you think about the lifestyle.
It must not all be about sex. A little about sex is ok.
Very little about spanking.
It must be interesting and fun to read.

Please let me know.

Love, Kathy

  2. I'm half-way through the book now and enjoying it very much.

I think it would make a great book for discussion.

  3. Ms Kathy,

I wanna make something clear. I'm very fond of Thomas LaValle's book, one you enjoyed a lot (at the time I couldn't read it because I was broke - but I read ABOUT it a lot on the blog). I think it's an awesome idea. I LOVE the idea of "Dancing Backwards", both of the book and just of a Female leading the dance.

When I was in college there was a BEAUTIFUL red-headed Mistress in the American community which I was "adopted" into. In any case, She was quite Dominant, although I don't know if She knew about Femdom or thought of it that way. I was HUGELY into Her and one time She took me out to dance. She moved me because I told Her I didn't know how to dance and since She was an actress and other things She really knew how to do it well. I had so much fun being dominated even if in such a subtle way by Her! Unfortunately, She wasn't into me any further than that. She's now married, but She's still too gorgeous not to think about (not my fault, ask God why She's that gorgeous!)

Anyway, I wanted to say all that in light of my previous comment. I didn't mean to say anything negative about Dancing Backwards and sure, it'd be a nice thing to have it on the blog again.

But my comment was made REGARDLESS of Dancing Backwards. My comment was that I would like to see featured some books by Female Authoresses. The reason is not personal at all, it's just that what interests me most is the Female perspective of Femdom.

  5. I love all of you blog postings!
My favorite femdom book is "Unexpected Present" by Ryan Peterson

  6. I'm looking for a book that discusses female domination in a real relationship with real people. I'm tired of books where the woman immediately goes to dominate some man who suddenly discovers his submissive side. Bet there's a lot of pegging and cockcolding. Maybe not in this particular series, but it seems to be just another fantasy genre book.

  7. Ms Kathy,

apropos book, i would like to tell that there are still some plagiarist on amazon aktive.Since i just read and enjoy your blog, as it
seems for me at least "a real world experience story", it’s disgusting to see that others shamelessly copy and sell your story.

At least this is only the case if you’re not Caroline Peele.

I downgrade this book. And tell that’s a plagiate.

    Cheers

  8. Dear Kathy,

Almost finished part 1 and I do like the book very much. I think it would be great to discuss this book and if you dont mind I would love to introduce an extra criterium:

Domme's and subs do things to and for eachother out of love...

This is what i miss in part 1, I think that Kelly thinks to low about Chris

  9. I'm opting to stay out of this, but I can't resist telling Randy that I agree with him about Ryan Peterson's "Unexpected Present." What a delight--based, I think, on O. Henry's classic short story, "Gift of the Magi."

  10. And thank you all for the comments.

And for Bob. No baby I am not Caroline Peele.

The legal advice as simply that since the blog had not been copywrited their was nothing I could do.

  11. Dear Kathy,

I read your blog and have always admired the realism you bring to this lifestyle.
I have read Dancing Backward 1 and 2 in the past and am currently halfway through number 3 which I only new was published by reading your blog (thank you!). I agree with other comments that this series is exceptional and very well written. While it is sometimes over the top you need to keep in mind it is fiction. The key element for me is that there is true love between Kelly and Chris which I believe is coming through in book 3 more so than in the previous two.
You asked for recommendations from others on books worth discussing. I would highly recommend:
    Finding Love Through Female Domination
    by Renee Lane

Go to Amazon and read the series of comments and you will see that it gets all 5 star reviews. It’s novel in length like the Dancing series.

Thanks for sharing your blog with us.

  12. I, too, enjoyed Mistress Renee Lane's book (like Bob Bell above) and take Ms. Lane at her word that it is all true (except the names, which are changed, of course). The fact that her story really happened, and indeed is still continuing, makes it even more exciting... and also pretty scary. Be careful what you wish for, and all that.

  13. Dear Kathy and Thomas,

I finished Dancing Backward 3. Kathy, I thank you for providing this forum for comments regarding this book. One has to sort through so much trashy literature to find a book that is really quality material. It is well written like the first two in this trilogy but Kelly really shows her true feelings in this episode. I left my review on Amazon. I would highly recommend this book to anyone with a submissive mindset. Some readers of the first two found Kelly to be somewhat heartless and cruel (isn't that what excites us sub-minded guys?). The third book shows a different side to Kelly’s relationship with her sub Chris. You won’t be disappointed in how this one ends.

Thomas, regarding your take on the novel Finding Love Through Female Domination, I too wondered if all of it could be true. The author, Renee Lane, actually has been interviewed which is available (audio only). She hosts a site on Fetlife and claims to be willing to meet with some of her followers. I have found it to be one of the most compelling Femdom reads I have come across.

    Regards,

    Bob Bell
